Connect Visily to Jira

Connect Visily to Jira

Connect Visily to Jira to add Visily boards or elements directly inside Jira tickets. This helps your team review design context, discuss requirements, and track design-related work without switching between tools.

Before you start

Make sure you have:
  1. Access to your Jira workspace
  2. Permission to install apps in Jira
  3. Access to the Visily board or element you want to add

Install the Visily app from the Atlassian Marketplace

  1. Log in to Jira.
  2. Click the Settings icon in the Jira navigation bar.
  3. Select Apps, then click Add apps.
  4. In the Atlassian Marketplace search bar, search for Visily.
  5. Open the Visily app listing.
  6. Click Get it now.
  7. Confirm the installation and wait for it to complete.
  8. Follow any on-screen instructions to configure permissions if required.
After installation, the Visily app is ready to use inside Jira.

Add a Visily board or element to a Jira ticket

  1. Open the Jira ticket where you want to add Visily content.
  2. In the ticket sidebar, find the Apps section.
  3. Click Visily to open the Visily panel.
  4. Paste the URL of a Visily board or element.
  5. Click Add.
The linked Visily content will appear inside the Jira ticket.
After adding a Visily link, you can:
  1. View the embedded board or element inside the Visily panel.
  2. Use zoom controls to review the design.
  3. Open the design in full-screen mode.
  4. Focus on specific elements when needed.
  5. Add up to 10 Visily links in the same Jira ticket.
  6. Remove a link by clicking X in the top-right corner of the embedded board.
If more than two links are added, they will be organized across multiple pages.

Access private or deleted boards

If a linked Visily board is private, users may need to sign in to Visily before they can view it.
  1. Users who are not signed in will see a prompt to log in or sign up.
  2. Users without access permission will see a Request Access option.
If the linked board has been deleted, signed-in users will see a Board no longer available message.

Note

  1. Jira users must have access to the linked Visily board or element to view private content.
  2. Installing the Jira app does not grant access to private Visily boards automatically.
  3. If your team cannot install the app, ask a Jira administrator to install or approve it.
