How to export designs from Visily to Figma

This article explains how to export designs from Visily to Figma using the Visily plugin. You can transfer designs from Visily to Figma either by copying them directly or by exporting them as a `.vis` file. Once imported into Figma, the designs are converted into editable Figma elements. 

Before you start

Before exporting designs from Visily to Figma, make sure you have:
  1. A Visily account with an active paid workspace, as this is a paid feature.
  2. A Figma account
  3. The Visily plugin is installed in Figma 

Copy-paste to Figma

  1. In your Visily board, select the screens or elements you want to export.
  2. Copy the selection in one of these ways:
    1. Press Cmd + C on Mac or Ctrl + C on Windows
    2. Right-click the selection and choose Copy


  3. In Figma, open the Visily plugin.

  4. Select Import from Visily.


  5. Click inside the plugin window and paste your copied content using Cmd + V on Mac or Ctrl + V on Windows. 

Export to Figma

  1. In your Visily board, select the screens or elements you want to export on the canvas.
  2. Export the selection in one of the following ways:
    1. Right-click the selection and choose Export to Figma

    2. Use the Export option in the toolbar, choose Export to Figma


  3. The exported design will be saved to your device as a `.vis` file.
  4. In Figma, open the Visily plugin.

  5. Select Import from Visily.


  6. Drag and drop the downloaded `.vis` file into the plugin window, or click Import file to upload it.

Notes

  1. Use Export in the top menu, then choose Export to Figma to quickly access all screens in your board and select the ones you want to export.


  2. The Visily plugin supports both exporting designs from Visily to Figma and importing designs from Figma to Visily.
  3. For large boards, it is better to import or paste your designs into smaller parts instead of all at once, to help the plugin run more smoothly.
