How to reuse saved templates
Reuse saved templates when you want to quickly add previously saved screens, layouts, components, or UI elements to a board.
Before you start
- Make sure you have access to the board where you want to use the template.
- Saved templates are available from the Saved Templates panel. The templates you can access may depend on where they were saved, your workspace role, and your workspace plan.
How to reuse a saved template
- Open the board where you want to use the template.
- Open the Saved Templates panel.

- Find the template you want to use.

- Drag and drop the template onto your board.
- Move or edit the inserted template as needed.
Find saved templates
In the Saved Templates panel, you can browse saved templates by category or search for a specific template.
If your workspace has templates saved to the Workspace Library, you can access them from boards in the same workspace, depending on your role and permissions.
Manage saved templates
From the Saved Templates panel, you can manage saved templates depending on your permissions and where each template is saved. Available actions may include:
- Rename a template
- Move a template to another category
- Move a template to the Workspace Library
- Delete a template
- Edit the original template and apply updates to synced copies for synced templates.
How synced saved templates work
Synced templates help you keep repeated design patterns consistent across boards. When you reuse a synced template, the inserted copy can receive updates from the original template, and changes made to a synced copy can be pushed back to update the original.
Edit the original template
The original template is the source version of a synced template. To update the design and its synced copies at the same time, edit the original template.
- Open the Saved Templates panel.
- Find the synced template you want to update.
- Open the template’s More actions menu.
- Select Edit origin. This opens the template in edit view, with a preview of the changes on the screen where the elements belong.

- Make your changes to the original template.
- Save the changes.
After the original template is updated, the changes will also be applied to its synced copies.
Manage changes from a synced copy
When you edit a synced copy, you can choose how to handle the changes in relation to the original template. Available options may include:
- Edit origin of the copy: Open the original template so you can update the source version directly.
- Reset to origin: Discard changes made to the synced copy and restore it to match the original template.
- Push change to origin: Apply the changes from the synced copy back to the original template, so other synced copies can receive the update.
- Detach: Disconnect the copy from the original template. After detaching, it becomes a regular design element and no longer receives or sends template updates.
Note
- Templates saved to the current board are available only in that board. Templates saved to the Workspace Library can be reused across boards in the same workspace, depending on your access.
- Template availability and management options may vary depending on your plan, role, and permissions.
