How to switch between Pan Mode and Select Mode

Use Select Mode when you want to select and edit objects, or switch to Pan Mode to move around the canvas without accidentally selecting or repositioning elements.

Before you start

Make sure you have permission to edit the board.

Switch between Pan Mode and Select Mode

Locate the mode controls in the bottom toolbar of the canvas, then choose the mode you want to use:
  1. Select Mode: Select, move, resize, and edit objects on the canvas.
  2. Pan Mode: Click and drag the canvas to navigate around the board without changing your design elements.
You can switch between the two modes at any time while working on your board.

Temporarily pan in Select Mode

You do not need to switch modes whenever you want to quickly move around the canvas.
  1. While using Select Mode, hold the Space bar, then click and drag the canvas. Release the Space bar to continue selecting and editing elements.
  2. When using a mouse, you can also pan by:
    1. Clicking and dragging with the right mouse button.
    2. Clicking and dragging with the middle mouse button.
  3. Navigate with a trackpad or touchscreen
    1. Trackpad: Slide two fingers to move around the canvas.
    2. Touchscreen: Drag your finger across the canvas.
