How to use draw mode

Draw mode lets you draw directly on your Visily canvas using a pen or highlighter. You can use it to quickly add annotations, highlight areas, or sketch ideas on your design.

Before you start

Make sure you have permission to edit the board.

Access Draw mode

  1. Open your board in Visily.
  2. Select Draw mode from the canvas toolbar.

  3. Choose a drawing tool and start drawing directly on the canvas.

Draw mode tools

While in Draw mode, you can use the following options:
  1. Pen: Draw freehand lines on the canvas.
  2. Highlighter: Highlight or mark areas on the canvas.
  3. Color: Change the color of your pen or highlighter.
  4. Thickness: Adjust the thickness of the drawing stroke.

How to use Draw mode

Draw mode works similarly to a basic paint or drawing tool.
  1. Select either the Pen or Highlighter.
  2. Adjust the drawing color or thickness from the toolbar as needed.
  3. Click and drag on the canvas to draw.


  4. Continue drawing or switch between the available tools.
  5. Press Esc when you are finished drawing. This stops the selected tool and returns to the cursor while you remain in Draw mode.
Exit Draw mode to return to the default canvas toolbar. Any drawings you added remain visible on the canvas after you exit.

Available actions for a drawing

After adding a drawing to the canvas, select it to access the available actions. You can:
  1. Change color: Choose a different color for the drawing.
  2. Change thickness: Adjust the stroke thickness of the drawing.
  3. Export: Export the selected drawing to image/PDF or to Figma.
  4. More actions: Open the More actions menu to access additional options for the drawing, such as align, arrange layers, copy, paste, duplicate, and delete.
