How to use "Start with AI" to create a board

This article explains how to use Start with AI to create a board in Visily. With this option, you can brainstorm with AI and generate screens or design elements from a text prompt, with or without images for visual guidance. 

Create a board using Start with AI

  1. In your workspace, open a Team Space or Private Space from the left panel.
  2. In the main area, click Start with AI. You can also click the Create new icon (+) next to the space name, then select Start with AI. This opens the AI chat box.
  3. In the AI chat box, choose the mode you want to use:
    1. Plan mode: Generate a structured design plan before creating the actual design.
    2. Design mode: Generate the actual design output from your design plan or directly from your prompt.

  4. If you skip the planning with AI and choose Design mode, enter a prompt in the chat box to describe what you want to create. You can generate:
    1. UI screens for mobile apps, web apps, or websites
    2. UI components
    3. Images
    4. Diagrams
  5. Add visual guidance if needed by uploading up to 4 images in JPG, PNG, or WebP format.

  6. Adjust AI settings if needed:
    1. Deep Design enables a more advanced design generation mode powered by Gemini 3 Pro for higher-quality and more detailed results

    2. Image source to design to choose whether the generated designs use real images or placeholders

  7. Press Enter or click Generate to let AI start generating your design.
  8. Review the generated output in the AI chat preview. The AI Assistant will also suggest several style options that fit your design, in addition to your current board theme, so you can preview and choose the one you want to apply.

  9. Click Open board to save the generated design and place it on your canvas.
Alert
Important: You must click Open board to save the generated result to the server. If you do not click Open board after generating with Start with AI, the result will be permanently removed.
When a new board is created with AI-generated content, you can continue editing, refining, or adding more designs on the canvas. The AI-generated outputs also remain available in the chat thread, so you can revisit and update them later.

  1. Deep Design is a paid feature available on the Pro and Business plans.
  2. The AI chat supports prompts of up to 4,000 characters on the Free and Pro plans, and up to 10,000 characters on the Business plan.
