How to use Text and Link elements

Use Text and Link elements to add headings, descriptions, labels, and clickable text to your designs.

Before you start

Make sure you have permission to edit the board and are in design editing mode.

Text element types

Visily provides the following text elements:
  1. Heading: Adds prominent text for page titles, section headings, and other important content.
  2. Text: Adds standard text for descriptions, labels, instructions, and body content.
  3. Link: Adds text styled as a link for navigation or other clickable actions.
Text elements use the fonts and text styles defined in your Board Theme when working in Hi-fi design mode.

Add a Text element

  1. Open the board where you want to add text.
  2. Open the Wireframe Library.

  3. Select Heading, Link or Text.


  4. Click the canvas to add the element.
  5. Enter your content.
  6. Move, resize, or format the text as needed.

Use the Text option in the bottom toolbar to quickly add text while working on the board. You can also use the following keyboard shortcuts:
  1. H: Add a heading.
  2. T: Add standard text.

Manage a Text or Link element

Select a Text or Link element to open its toolbar. The available actions include:
  1. Text preset: Apply a predefined text style to quickly format the element and keep typography consistent.
  2. Font and size: Change the font, font size, and other available typography settings.
  3. Color and effects: Adjust the text color, layer opacity, and shadow.
  4. Text formatting: Apply formatting such as bold, italic, underline, or strikethrough.
  5. Text alignment: Align the text to the left, center, right, or justify it within its boundaries.
  6. Advanced settings: Control how the text bounding box expands and adjust text case, line height, and letter spacing.
  7. Add hyperlink: Add a web address or supported link destination to the selected text.
  8. Autofill with AI: Use AI to generate or replace the text content based on your instructions.
  9. Save as template: Save the text element and its formatting as a reusable template.
  10. Export: Export the selected text element to image/PDF or to Figma.
  11. More actions: Access additional options such as align, arrange layers, copy, paste, duplicate, and delete.

Note

  1. Apply text styles from your Board Theme instead of formatting each element separately when you want consistent typography.
  2. Resizing a text element may change how its content wraps across lines.
  3. Link styling and prototype behavior are managed separately. Adding a Link element does not automatically create navigation until its destination or interaction is configured.
