Set up SAML SSO with Google SSO
This article explains how to set up SAML SSO with Google SSO for your workspace in Visily. This allows members to sign in to Visily using their Google SSO credentials.
Before you start
Before setting up SAML SSO with Google SSO, make sure that:
- You have administrator access to the Google Admin Console.
- SAML 2.0 is enabled for your Google organization.
- Your Visily workspace is on the Business plan.
- Your domain is verified in Visily.
- Sign in to your Google Admin Console using an administrator account.
- In the Admin Console, go to Apps → Web and mobile apps.
- Click Add App → Add custom SAML app.
- Enter the app name for the Visily SAML app, upload an icon if needed, then click Continue.
- On the Google Identity Provider details page, download the IdP metadata file and copy the Entity ID.
- Open the downloaded `GoogleIDPMetadata.xml` file in a text editor and copy its contents.
At this stage, please leave the Admin Console open, as you will continue the configuration wizard there after completing the next step in Visily.
- In Visily, open Workspace settings and go to the SAML SSO tab.
- Toggle on Enable SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) to open the SAML SSO configuration dialog.
- Choose the Identity Provider URL and paste the Entity ID copied from Google.
- Choose Identity Provider Metadata XML and paste the contents of the GoogleIDPMetadata.xml file. Then click Save changes.
- Copy and save the Assertion Consumer Service (ACS) URL shown in Visily. You will need it for the Google-side setup.
- Verify one or more domains when prompted in Visily.
- Return to the Google Admin Console and continue the setup.
Finish SSO configuration in Admin Console
- On the Service provider details page, paste the ACS URL you copied from Visily into the ACS URL field.
- In the Entity ID field, enter `https://app.visily.ai/sso/saml`. Click Continue.
- On the Attribute Mapping page, map the required Google directory attributes to the corresponding Visily attributes. firstName, lastName, and email are required.
- Click Finish.
- Turn on the Visily SAML app for the organizational units that should use it, then click Save.
Notes
- At the moment, Visily’s Google SSO integration supports the following features:
- IdP-initiated SSO: Users can sign in through SAML 2.0 using their Google SSO credentials.
- SP-initiated SSO: Users can start the sign-in process directly from Visily.
- Group assignments: Admins can assign specific user groups to the Visily app within Google SSO.
- Just-In-Time (JIT) provisioning: New users can be added automatically to the Visily application.
- SP-initiated SSO is currently limited to users with verified domains.
Sign in to Visily from the Visily login page
2. Enter your email address and click Continue.
3. You will be redirected to the Google SSO sign-in page. Enter your Google SSO credentials.
5. After authentication, you will be redirected back to the Visily dashboard.
